expressionism

Explanation of spiritual events and inner truth with clear signs and expressions, especially the perceptible expression of the human spirit through facial expressions or words.

Edvard Munch - The Scream

As far as we know, expressionism is a trend that started in the 20th century and continues, manifested in various works by many artists. As we can observe in different subjects, as far as we know about some issues, ideas, and patterns, what we understand or feel are not the same. What is expression? Can we understand only from the above sentence or from the painting of Edvard Munch, one of the pioneers of this trend, what this trend wants to tell us?

If we change our inquiries, can we understand from these works why artists want to be included in this trend? But did these artists want to be understood, or did they want to hide? Or was the goal to be understood to those who could fully understand?
